New Message From Richard Armitage in Wellington

From RichardArmitageOnline:

Message from Richard Armitage, 28th November 2012

Dear Friends,

So I am sitting in my hotel room from which I can see a very long red carpet and The Embassy Theatre. I am nervous, excited and quite emotional, the day has arrived when we can finally present our work for everyone to hopefully enjoy.

I wanted to say thank you for the continuing support that I receive from everyone who visits Annette’s brilliant site, and those others which have popped up over the last few years and months. It means so much to me to have that support. I truly hope you all enjoy The Hobbit, I tried to respect the responsibility that taking on this role presented to me, my fellow cast members are all spectacular in the story and we send out our work to you in the hope that you can take your friends and family to see a great event in the cinema.

I look forward to saying thank you, at the various premiers over the next few weeks.

See you on the Red Carpet.

Much love
Richard

fumblingly sent from my iPad

Definitely calls for a fake fan letter only I’m very sincere this time:

Dear Richard,

You were great, and we were all so proud of you. Take care, and all of us so look forward to your coming successes.

I don’t know what else to say but that, or I could go on for an hour.

Sincerely,
One of your crazy fans who is tired after a wonderful night

And on that note, I’m calling it a night. :)

edit: For those not familiar with me, my reference to being sincere was an allusion to the mostly tongue-in-cheek tone of my fake fan letter series. I hope that explains it. Call me if it’s still not clear. :D

  1. Oh dear, and now I’m the one doubting he wrote it because of the spelling of “premier”!! Wouldn’t a Brit spell it “premiere”?? Not that I’m questioning the man’s overall sweetness. I think he’s fully capable of having written it, it’s just…that pesky final “e” is nagging my brain. *Sigh* ‘Tennyrate, it’s been a lovely, lovely night and he’s a lovely, lovely man and I must sleep before I pass out at my computer…

  2. I’m fairly confident he sends these messages from his phone, so misspellings are understandable.

  3. That’s a very lovely message from Richard. I hope he had a good time at this Premiere at Embassy Theatre. :-)

  4. Actually typos have always been his trade mark and a sign that the messages are real.

  5. For what it’s worth, the message on RAonline has been update with the line “fumblingly sent from my iPad”.

  6. Thanks, Jane!

  7. Charming…endearing…genuine…I could go on and on…this man is a gentleman in the truest sense.

  8. Ohhh that is wonderful to hear!!! Hooray for having such a delightful person to fangirl over!!! :D

  9. I’m curious about something. Pardon me for asking, but why did you write before you fan letter, “only I’m sincere”? You think Richard was not?

  10. No, I was referring to my insincerity with my fake fan letter series. Oh, some of it is sincere, but there is a lot that’s tongue-in-cheek.

  11. Please forgive me if I sound a bit ticked off here, but I am compelled to comment! I can’t for the life of me see why some people are so worked up – or as some might say “have their knickers in a twist” over something as inconsequential as one tiny letter! Good grief, the darling man took the time out of what must have been one of THE most exciting and special days of his life to send a massage to “our little community” and this is all we can find to talk about?

It’s a beautiful message and just confirms for me what a very special man he is. The postscript is just the icing on the cake! :)

  12. As I am the guilty party who first caused this small little wave of doubt as to the veracity of the letters …. I feel that I should offer a serious comment here, especially because Ashley raised the question of whether this was the real deal.

I know I joke a lot on here and on Twitter, but honestly, this is an earnest message:

I have been convinced the letters are his, but it was this particular letter that sealed any remaining question for me.

The reason is that RA gives a gracious nod to Annette, by name. Annette’s site is where these letters have originated.

If any letters there were a hoax or had been tampered with in any way at that site, this letter would not have been sent there, and RA certainly would not have given a very public nod to the blog author by name.

I want to clear up that I never thought any of you were lying. I just operate in this other world professionally and am trained to question everything. If I was dubious before, it was because I know the power of the smoke and mirrors of the Internet, and I was doubting whether the recipients of the letters had received them from a reputable source. If I caused any hurt in the fandom for this, I sincerely apologize.

I think he wrote this letter, and as much as I have joked about getting a personal confession about the 2008 letter …. he doesn’t need to say it. This letter for me removes the previous doubt.

By the way, it’s a really nice letter, and what a kind and gracious soul to remember the fans on his very big night of the red carpet.

    *curtsies Jane Austen style*

Now back to my regular sarcastic self …

    As you were.

  13. Wow. I’m just thankful I get to watch Richard in 3D as Thorin in a couple of weeks, and am so grateful he’s on this earth, period. And I hope he gets his Richard III project greenlighted in the next year (which he should if the bones found in Leicester are Richard III’s, and there’s any justice…are you listening, BBC?)

  14. I though that the message was a little too late. When was the last time that he sent a message to his fans? I’m surprised that a lot of ladies are willing to settle for what looks to me like “crumbs of acknowledgement.”

  15. Sorry Liliana, but you leave me almost speechless.

  16. I totallt agree, Teuchter.

It’s wonderful to read a message from him to his fans. He doesn’t do it very often, so I’m grateful every time he does.
