Pardon Me But, WTF?

This below appeared in my reader last night, and made me shift into overdrive on all sorts of notions about Richard Armitage and his involvement with The Hobbit. LOL!

LOTRO, Movies, MPAA Rate An Extended Version Of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit — June 12, 2013 at 14:30

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) have just rated an extended cut of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Thanks to Melonfarmers for spotting this). This will not come as a major surprise to anyone, as details of this longer version were confirmed by Peter Jackson himself in an interview with Ain’t It Cool last year. What is interesting are the specifics details of the rating, which remains PG-13 for this longer version.

“ Rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, frightening images and fleeting nudity”.

Fleeting nudity? That’s curious, to say the least. Exactly who is going to be naked and under what circumstances?

I thought perhaps I was seeing things, but then I got up this morning, and TORn had a piece in my in-box.

Will Richard III be Identified on Monday?

It’s been a Richard III kind of day. A kind of week really, and now could Monday be the day we find out if it was really the King’s body under the public housing parking lot?

Philippa Langley was all over the place. Now she’s in The Sunday Times, and the teaser posed by the Times has me paying close attention (emphasis mine):

The story of the search for the long-lost bones of one of England’s most reviled kings starts on a sweltering summer day when Philippa Langley felt a sudden chill. Langley, a screenwriter, was researching a play about Richard III — Shakespeare’s dastardly hunchback — a figure who had fascinated her since childhood. To stimulate her creative juices she paid a visit to Leicester “to walk the area where he was supposed to have been buried”.

I’ll cut to the case if you don’t want to bother with a Times subscription, you can watch the special on Channel 4 on Monday, 9pm GMT. I know I’m going to watch it albeit at 2pm in the afternoon.

More unvarnished thoughts about all of this. I could be so wrong, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say Ms. Langley is one ballsy lady. She is going for it. This is going to be fun to watch. No, I’m not sadistic. I honestly want to see if her chutzpah pulls off getting this movie made. I guess you always have to have chutzpah to get a movie made, but again, what the hell do I know? Nothing. LOL!

And I can’t help but continue to wonder where is Richard Armitage and why the hesitance from his agent? That just won’t leave my mind when I would like nothing better than to start gushing about this. C’mon, Richard.

Damn. I hate it when my sane self tries to ruin my fun.

Richard Armitage’s Journey To ‘The Hobbit’ Best ‘By Far’
The U.K. actor is Middle-earth’s most badass dwarf and One to Watch in 2012.

This winter, director Peter Jackson will deliver the long-awaited return to Middle-earth. “The Hobbit,” which will unfold across two films, begins with “An Unexpected Journey,” as Bilbo Baggins leaves to win back gold stolen from his companions. But these are not just any friends. Bilbo is accompanied by 13 dwarves, each with a larger-than-life personality.

The leader of these adventurers, Thorin, will be played by Richard Armitage, who made a brief appearance in “Captain America: The First Avenger,” but will get his biggest Stateside break in “The Hobbit.” The British actor played a key role in last month’s trailer and will soon join the illustrious ranks of Tolkien alumni, alongside Viggo Mortensen, Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom.

We spoke with Armitage about traveling to Middle-earth, the difficulty of working under pounds of makeup and leading a band of treasure-seeking dwarves.

MTV: Congratulations on being named to MTV’s Ones to Watch!

Richard Armitage: Thank you very much!

MTV: Where are you currently in the filming schedule?

Armitage: We just finished up our second block, so we start again at the end of January, and then we go — we think it’s the end of July. Then there’s a bit more in 2013, we reckon.

The Art of the Tease: Waiting on The Hobbit Trailer

I thought I knew about teasing, but the building of expectation for ‘The Hobbit’ trailer has taken teasing to new levels. The last time I was this tightly bound, I was watching a pregnancy test stick but that never gave me a tic! Now if I even hear or see a word that looks or sounds like trailer, I jump. Early this morning I was working on some business issues and reading about possible marketing strategies. I caught site of the word trailer, uh, I mean mailer, and my heart sped up. A few minutes later, one of the kids said they were going over to see trailer, uh Taylor, who lives next door. Phew! I’m not sure how much longer I can stand it. And really I don’t understand why I’m so jumpy since the trailer won’t be shown until this evening. Won’t it? Yes, I’m paranoid I may miss it, and I want to see it as soon as it comes out!! I dare not tell you how many times I’ve visited various websites. My poor browser has never worked so hard trolling the web. ;-)

And I want to hit something! Which puts me in good company since the comments I’ve read around the web have threatened bodily injury to someone if the trailer isn’t shown soon. Not being the violent type, I would never threaten bodily injury — not verbally anyway. In my head, there are all sorts of violent things going on.
