Trying to Keep Up

I haven’t lost complete track of Richard Armitage but darn near. As some of you know, I started a business, and it’s taken almost everything out of me. It is working, but it’s like being pregnant, giving birth and then dealing with an infant. All things that take the stuffing out of someone in her childbearing years let alone someone like me who is long past that. Yep, that’s my concession that I’m not a spring chick.

The rest of my story is that I have one child I’m still homeschooling, take care of two houses (one’s mine, the other one’s a church house), and I got something dropped in my lap a few months ago which has me driving 1,500 miles a month. Unreal. I don’t even know how I’m doing all of this, but the good news is that it’s paying all of those horrendous medical bills. I do not want to go into my old age owing six figures, and thankfully, I won’t!

And thank God! my youngest child, who is in high school, is independent or there would be real trouble. She directs her days more or less. I oversee the subject matter she studies and do lecture on some subjects, but other than that, the child tells me what’s happening. Most of that is her reading constantly — about four books a week and titles such as To Kill a Mockingbird or Ethan Frome or A Member of the Wedding, and some popular fiction thrown in like Looking for Alaska, which she hated. She said, “I don’t get why everyone [read that as her peers] thinks John Green’s writing is so great. This is my third book by him, and the first two I kept thinking that maybe the next book would wow me. That hasn’t happened. Honestly, Mom, To Kill a Mockingbird is soooooo much better than anything John Green has written it’s not funny.” I replied, “You know what’s happened don’t you?” She looked at me, and I continued, “You’ve been spoiled by good writing.” From there we went onto a very productive discussion of what we both like to see in writing.

So where am I going with this? Lately, discussing writing has stirred up such a longing to write again. Not that the desire ever went away, but it’s more intense these days because time’s winged chariot is kicking my ass, and I want to say something before I’m completely crushed. When I feel this way, I become wistful about this place, because writing this blog freed me up to write other things which I needed to get out or self combust. And I still have so much I want to say. Not sure how I’m going to pull it off, but I need to finish something here.

Other than that, picture me something like this (below) as I go about my day. I’m almost constantly with people. I love people, think they’re fascinating, and I never want to be completely cut off from them. Yeah, you can feel that “but” coming. I’ve got to get in a dark room and coalesce my thoughts instead of forever reacting to others — or feeling like I am.

I’m So Behind on My RA Watching!

There are so many things I haven’t seen or heard yet. I really have been too busy to watch anything. I barely even listen to music these days except something classical while I’m working, which is most of the time.

This weekend I’m making myself take a break. I’m about to have 2-1/2 weeks of company. It will be enjoyable to visit with family and friends, but if I don’t rest up beforehand, I’ll be whipped when they leave. How’s that for a fangirl justification? Pretty lame I know, but I don’t care. Doing it anyway.

So here’s something that Armitage Besotted sent me:

And this is my favorite screencap:

It’s amazing to me how Richard Armitage can use his mouth to such effect. I am not being provocative. I mean it seriously. He can say volumes just by how he holds his mouth.

A few others:

This has been said ad nauseum, but it struck me again while watching — he can say things with a slight movement.

And then there’s the hair and stubble. I know it’s not always his hair, but whatever the case, he wears it well. Is there a hairstyle he can’t pull off? Shaved head? I would still love to see that, and I promise it won’t drive me to drink. Probably look sexy as hell like the rest of his looks.

That was fun. It’s been a while since I had a fangirling bout. Picture me now as the proverbial drunk with a tongue hanging out. Much better than liquor.

Thank you, AB. If it weren’t for you, I would be seeking treatment from this affliction. :D

Timeout for a Timeout

OnLocation-UrbanAtShedCrewtwitter-08Apr14Have you ever been so tired at the end of the day you didn’t care if you ate or bathed? You were like a homing pigeon focused on making it to a certain place, and that would be the bed? And you had to be focused ’cause you were so whipped that any distraction would have completely taken you off task?

Yeah, I know some of you have been that tired, and tonight I’m so there. My whole goal in the next half hour is to make it to bed. A few minutes ago the doorbell rang, and of course no one else is home to answer it. I flirted with the idea of ignoring it and proceeding onto my bedroom, but I felt bad about doing that and decided to see who it was. I’m so glad I didn’t blow it off, ’cause I opened the front door and lo and behold it was my ass finally getting home.

I really am tired tonight. It’s a good tired but a very real tired, so any speculation about Richard Armitage’s future plans will have to wait until tomorrow — at least for me.

And hey, we may hear something between now and then, and a very good chance it will be by the end of this month.

Rich,

I hope you’re taking a timeout too after that hellacious schedule for The Crucible.

I would write more, but man, my brain hasn’t gotten home yet. I hope it shows up before morning.

Goodnight,
A crazy…oh to hell with it; I’m to bed.

I hope one of you will wake me if something really interesting happens. :D

It Coulda Been Me…

Don’t let June 21st come and go with that thought. Enter the giveaway for two tickets to see The Crucible.

Thankfully I have already gotten some entries this morning. Thank you for those! But a reminder that the rest of you still have over seven hours to send an entry.

So that there is no confusion about whether I received entries, I will send a confirmation to each of you who enter.

And for those thinking about it, you are going to feel like this if you could have entered and chose not to:

Yeah, Ugly and Damaged

Richard Armitage Urban Shed Crew

I’m not making light of what happens to people’s lives that are destroyed or never had a chance to flourish, but I’m glad for our guy. No guyliner this time, but I can handle it. Still wondering when he’s going to shave his head though. Yes, I really would love to see that. Hey, he can always grow it back. Have you seen his hair?! Really looked at it? Yeah, the dude has quite a mane — with or without extensions.

You can read the article here from whence this image came (someone slap me), but it’s not really about Richard Armitage.

Note to self: get back to work! Yes, I really am working. Just took a break to look at my Frenz email.

Wait. This piece starts with a ‘Y’. I’ll be back soon with ‘S’. Damn A to Z Challenge is messing with my OCD.

Juxtaposition in the ‘Hood

A new Richard Armitage photo surfaced from @UrbanAtShedCrew, and I have all kinds of good vibes about this.

Richard Armitage Urban and the Shed Crew

Thoughts of Richard playing the scruff, out of his element — or is he? I absolutely adore this. Can hardly wait even though I realize it may not play in the U.S. quickly. Since when has that ever stopped any of us? And for anyone reading who may be alarmed by that statement, I always buy the DVD and usually more than one. It’s my understanding that many, many fans do this. But best of all, we are willing to talk and talk and talk about these vehicles.

Meanwhile, just one of the tweets inuring us to the culture of Urban and the Crew:

Interesting stuff to read as I wait for my book to get here.

And the Into the Storm trailer!

Yeah, Rich!

All of a sudden we have a few things to look forward to. I knew it. I knew it. Yes, I’m gloating. I knew you weren’t sitting on your duff. Have you ever been able to do that? Seriously, man, have you ever been able to sit still?

Somehow I doubt it, and I would bet there’s some really fine looking home improvements created in between all of these theatrical offerings when you were supposedly having your “down time.” :D

Signed,
A fan crazy about damaged characters.

P.S. You have always done a wonderful job with redemption stories. I really cannot wait to see this. Sue me if I’m getting ahead of myself.
