It’s Like This…

I understand a lot is going on with respect to Richard Armitage. Fantastic! It’s wonderful to witness this even if everything hasn’t gone down the way some of us thought it would or have even liked at times. I’m just glad for him, because well, I have spent four years (really more than that) talking about the man and his career. I do have some sort of weird investment in him. CWS out of whack? Maybe, but I don’t care. I just hope he outdoes his expectations of himself. Go, Richard!

As for me, I am outdoing my expectations. Then again, maybe not. I’ve run more than one business, and this is usually what happens — you go out and market and market and market, and things may trickle in for a while, and then there’s a flood. I have never run a business nor been up close and personal to other businesses where this did not happen. Things usually never come in a steady stream. Anyway, I’m up to my eyeballs in work, and if you knew the medical bills the Frenz household is staring down and very possibly future insurance bills, you would know why I’ve got to do this.

The good news is I am having a blast! I’ve said this before, but I can’t stop saying it because I keep falling into clover, as it were. I went to a political gathering a few weeks ago, because a friend of mine is running for office and asked me to help. I did have to think for months and months about helping, because I actually hate politics. But I finally decided to help, hence my presence at a political gathering. While I was at this meeting, someone started talking about my area of expertise and how they needed to hire someone. Then another person chimed in with his needs and another and another and before I left that place, I was loaded up with clients and potential clients. Wow. Wow. Wow.

And get this. I was sick as a dog when I got to this meeting and had to leave early because I was literally swaying on my feet. I made what should have been a four hour drive home in almost seven hours. Doesn’t matter! It was worth it.

I’m just thankful I was ready, and these people were too ’cause they not only want my services but have the money to pay for them. LOL! Yes, I just laughed, and I have a big grin on my face too. Do you know how good it feels to work your tail off and it finally starts paying off?! It’s wonderful.

I feel as if this is happening to Richard Armitage as well. He has worked his backside off. We have seen that over and over with the effort he puts into his characters and heard confirmation of it from the glowing reports his colleagues always give of him. It’s almost as if at times there is a kind of awe of him as a human being. Even Martin Freeman who is a quintessential smartass and who rarely gets serious about anything, got serious about Richard and praised him as a fine human being. Then there are the fans’ reactions to him and I include my own with the consensus being that he is class itself.

And now he seems to be grinning a lot these days, which makes me think he is feeling pretty good and with good reason. Yes, I’ve mentioned this smiling before as well. I can’t stop talking about it because he seems continually unabashed in his pleasure in the last year. Or maybe it’s just me who sees it that way ’cause I’m feeling pretty good myself — and that includes my getting pneumonia. So what! Things are moving forward, and I don’t have time to moan about what hasn’t gone right. In keeping with a high ranking on the CWS, certainly, Richard feels the same. ;-)

Yeah, Rich, I know just how you feel. It’s hard to stop smiling even when you may be tired.

Richard Armitage at wondercon

I adore this photo. There is no telling how many times I may use it. I may even use it as a screensaver. Something I have never done with a Richard Armitage photo. Yep, that’s right. I’ve never done it. His beauty has always been contained within my computer or phone. (Sorry, Rich). But I may have to breakdown and use this photo and damn the ribbing I’ll receive.

#12 Todd Garner

It’s 12 days until Thanksgiving in the U.S., and I have so much to be thankful for that I can’t get it into one post. I’m starting today with yep, you guessed it, the first of 12 posts. And please note these are not necessarily in order of importance.

836910702f7c15f7d73fd81128a13291Todd Garner. I think it’s obvious why I’m thankful for Todd Garner. But what some of you don’t know is he loves to laugh. That immediately made me really like him because I love to laugh too — even when it may not be appropriate.

Things falling down around your ears? Life not going the way you had planned — at all? It’s just kicking your ass? Start laughing and things will look better immediately. Yeah, we’ve all heard that, but how many of us practice it?

As my life goes on, I’m practicing more and more, and I get the sense Todd Garner practices regularly too. My memory of talking to him is our conversation began with laughter and there was more as we went. Oh yeah, sure it passed through my mind that he may have been amused at talking to a crazy fan, and well, he was talking to a crazy fan. But it was more than that. He seems happy. Whenever I see his tweets, I always think of him with a grin on his face, and it makes me grin. And that was even before he changed his avatar to a smile.

So where does all that smiling and laughing leave Into the Storm? Will it be a comedy? I don’t think so, but there may be a little bit of snark. Not enough to make it a comedy, but if Jon Swetnam is any indication, it’s hard to think a little snark won’t be present. Some of you may have noticed I do like my snark, so I can handle it. : D

And before anyone begins to think Garner has no traffic with a serious piece, one of the movies where he served as a producer is an excellent serious piece and a favorite of mine — Radio with Ed Harris and Cuba Gooding Jr. For those who haven’t seen it, I encourage you to watch it. And for those in other countries who want to be more conversant in American culture, it’s a real slice of what life can be like here. A definite must see.

Will Into the Storm be like that? Not entirely although tornadoes are a way of life in some parts of America and taken very seriously. If you had to replace your roof regularly and came home after a tornado to see that your house was standing and your next door neighbor’s was not, you would take it seriously. Plus, the damn things are unpredictable. Tornadoes do their own thing. Even weather watchers who study them will tell you they are only predictable to a point and then, all bets are off. Given that, Into the Storm will be a bit of a thrill ride and especially considering one version of it will be in 3D.

For now the ride is the build up to the movie. It’s fun, and I know many of you are getting a kick out of it as well.

Todd,

Thanks for making the waiting for this movie enjoyable. I’m having a blast.

And I hope you realize the import of myself and others being fangirls. That’s what we do, and now you are in our sights. ;-)

Oh, and a picture would be nice. : D

Sincerely
One of Richard’s crazy fans

P.S. Love the avatar. It’s perfect.

note: this has the fake fan letter tag, but I’m sincere.

Styling With George Stroumboulopoulos

Obviously, George backstage with Richard Armitage after the interview:

I was tempted to say “George What’s His Name” or some other lame joke. But if a man gets hung with a last name like that, and he makes it to adulthood still smiling, he deserves for others to spell or say his name correctly. ;-) Okay, it’s Stroumboulopoulos. Man, what a tongue twister and does harsh work on the fingers too. :D This word has FanstRAvaganza beat!

I also love that George is a smiler (although he’s not in this picture), and I love his dimples. Yes, this is a Richard Armitage fan blog, but I had to take time out to give some praise to George. :D

Love this:

Pippa the Great?

Did Pippa Middleton steal the show? I think she did. Yesterday, the would be queen’s sister got most of the attention at the Royal Wedding, and I think it was somewhat deserved. She was as spectacular as her sister and all her own. You would have to be dead not to have noticed her. Well, if you’ve got it flaunt it, and she did, but I don’t think she was trying to upstage her sister.

She was placed in a position that potentially could draw notice if you’re in a stunning gown with a great figure, great skin and have excellent carriage, and women who look at you want to be you, and I’m afraid to say what I think the men were thinking, and of course she appeared to be good with children:

But all of that wasn’t what sold me on Pippa. It was the smile:

I knew immediately she had a sense of humor. Perhaps she is a total ass (no pun intended) in person, but my gut says a resounding no! Whatever the case, that infectious smile makes me say, “I would love to meet her!”

And now a picture for the men who read this blog, which I figure is deserved after all of the fangirling of Richard Armitage that you’ve witnessed:

Of course I’m drawn to her hair in this picture. Lovely.

Iz4blue is such a delight that I had to share this. You may have seen some of these videos, but she’s always bound to come up with one you haven’t seen, and she’ll always make you smile.

If you like, be sure to comment on Iz4blue’s blog.

April Fools Spoofs - Bring your smile! "What will they come up with next?"Planning is not my thing: except when it comes to travel. I know when and how NOT to miss any opportunities when I have them. Like that time in Paris where I had every whole day planned out included metro stops and packed in as many tourist stops in a few days because precious time is not to be wasted. But even though I knew that I was going to make a list of my fave Spoof fan video's shortly after I started thi … Read More
