Zan has just issued a call to arms. To right a wrong as she puts it. I can do my duty for Richard Armitage. And yeah, I like Aidan Turner too. I have seen him in person, and believe it or not, he’s cuter in real life than he appears in his pictures or video. Yeah, it’s true. He puts a grin on your face. But all that aside, I’m doing this for our guy. :D

OK, maybe “arms” is a bit harsh. But “call to keyboards” just doesn’t have the same ring to it, y’know?

Anyway … what I’m getting at is that all Thorin devotees and Fili followers, YOU ARE NEEDED!!! NOW!!! There’s less than 12 hours to fix a terrible wrong!

As y’all have probably seen, TORn is running their version of March Madness using our beloved LotR and Hobbit characters. Even though there were some questionable match-ups in Round 1 — Fili v Kili? REALLY??? — a few of our darling Dwarves made it through to Round 2. And now, well … Houston, we have a problem…

Do You Really Want to Go to New Zealand to See The Hobbit?

What are you waiting for?! Sign up for Air New Zealand’s contest to win a chance for a fantastic trip. Seeing The Hobbit is only part of it!! You know my hatred for certain kinds of punctuation. Would I be using this many exclamation points if I weren’t serious about this?!! You only have a little while longer to enter. 6pm on Sunday 11th November 2012 NZ Time is the deadline, and that is, well, I don’t know how many hours that is from now, but it’s not long.

I’m utterly serious that they are nuts. Larry Curtis (aka MrCere at TORn) despite his beautiful baritone voice is definitely a nut. Cliff? Oh yeah. :D And I say all of this with the greatest affection. They fit right in with this place. (note to self: I need to write about these two some more).

Okay, I found a clock for all of you who are like me and lazy and don’t have the inclination to keep up with the current time in New Zealand. ;p

Dragon*Con Awaits

Before all of you think I’ve gone off the deep end, I have to tell you I enjoy the bunch at TORn and have a special fondness for MrCere (aka Larry Curtis). :D So yeah, if I can help Larry and the others out, I will.

Here’s the scoop from the TORn staff:

TheOneRing.net thought it would be fun to send a group of staffers on a cross-country road trip (see the map) from Los Angeles, California to Atlanta, Georgia meeting fans along the way, supporting the official Tolkien track while we are there, and delivering a series of Hobbit panels at DRAGON*CON 2012. Then we want to make a short documentary film of the entire experience to share free online! The entire trip will be live streamed so the “company of drivers” can interact with fans 24 hours a day. With gas (or petrol) prices reaching new heights, we need your help to make this a success!

Dare I say the route looks like a ring? LOL! Ought to be interesting to watch. I know I will be.

Even if some of you don’t get to watch this adventure, the TORn staff has been so good to bring us news about ‘The Hobbit’ and our guy, Richard, and they’re going to continue. That’s right. Richard’s days on ‘The Hobbit’ set are not done! And Larry may have some more reports to make. I can spare him a few dollars. I hope you can too. Anything as little as $1 or as great as, well, you call it. Maybe one of you wants to sponsor next year’s trip. Yeah, I like to think big. :D

Testing, Testing

TheOneRingnet is trying for 60,000 likes on their Facebook page before Comic-Con begins on July 11. I give you that date in case you have been under a rock somewhere in RA universe.

This is my good faith effort to hopefully encourage you to “like” the page and get your friends and family to do the same. As of this post, there are 56,892 “likes.” So 3,108 more. Just making the number clear for the action fans. ;-)

Some of you may think this is cruel, since you’re so starved for new Richard Armitage photos. Trust me; it’s going to be worth it. :D

Getting Up To Speed on The Hobbit

If you already know all about ‘The Hobbit’ production, then certainly skip this post. But if you want to get up to speed on what’s going on, learn some about the characters and story itself, and maybe have a little fun, then a quick and easy way to do it is watching Rebekah of the Hobbitin5 YouTube Channel, or Hi 5.

I have developed a soft spot for Rebekah. Whoever thought to have her do these broadcasts was using his/her head. She is bright and perfect for a novice like me. I actually look forward to watching her! And she inspired me to go over and look around on TheOneRing site. Mulubinba’s posts about Thorin Oakenshield (great stuff by the way) had also piqued my curiosity in the site, but I had still been hesitant to go look as quite frankly my prejudice kept me from it. I thought entering that world would be daunting and just too much work, and my Richard Armitage watching is a respite from my real work, so I certainly didn’t want to pursue anything that felt like work. I was wrong. I’ve enjoyed my time on the site and will continue to read it. I’m also now rereading The Hobbit and will reread the trilogy as well. This is something I never thought to do, but I guess I’m becoming enthralled with Middle Earth, and who knows? I may become a Tolkienologist yet.
