Gratiana came so close to guessing the first name of Richard Armitage’s character in Black Sky, and with this piece, she explores the last!

When meeting someone new, proper introductions must be made.  But one fellow had gone maddeningly without appellation until Monday.  Of course, I refer to the teacher character that British actor Richard Armitage portrays in Todd Garner’s tornado movie filming now and set to release in 2013, titled “Black Sky”.

Speculation abounded as to the character’s name –especially as pictures of RA in character started to trickle out from “Black Sky” producer Todd Garner on his Twitter account @Todd_Garner:

Being a curious soul, I took the direct route and simply asked Mr. Garner  in a tweet if we might know Richard Armitage’s character’s name.  And he kindly replied:

@GratianaL: @GratianaL @Todd_Garner  Any hints on Mr. Armitage’s character’s name? RA kind of looks like a “Greg” to me. Close – Gary

Okay, Gary it is.   But we still don’t have a surname.  So, urged on by others…

“Five hundred years after he died on the field of battle, Richard is still a figure of controversy and his story still fascinates and casts a spell. Betrayed in life by his allies, Richard was betrayed in death by history. Leaving no heir, his reputation was like his corps: left to his enemies, mutilated beyond recognition.

Filled with the sights and sounds of battle, the customs and lore of daily life, the rigors and risks of Court politics, the passions and infidelities of the high-born, and the touching concerns of very real men and women, The Sunne in Splendourbrings to life this gifted man whose greatest sin, perhaps, was that he held principles too firm for the times he lived in and loved too deeply to survive love’s loss.” thus ends the jacket of the book.

The Sunne in Splendour is one of those epic novels the size of…

An Appeal to Richard Armitage Fans

Today, I discovered this poignant post by someone who says he is an acquaintance of Richard Armitage (to read it go here). This highlights the concerns I outlined awhile back.

It behooves all of us to adhere to the poster’s suggested standard, especially because this issue affects a real person.

Comments closed for this post.

Edit: the post on IMDb has been removed, so in the interest of not belaboring this issue, I’m removing the link to my previous post.

Break Time

Lots of stuff going on in my world, so I’m taking a break for the next week, or at least that’s the plan. Of course if something really interesting happens in RA Universe, I might pop in. But for now, consider me gone until May 1.

When I return, there will be more snark, more interviews, more vidders to watch, more music I love and maybe more diary entries. I keep waffling on this last one, and maybe that’s a sign I should stop with those entries. Stepping out of the fray and taking care of some pressing business might put it in perspective. We’ll see.

This is what I saw this morning and see almost every morning.

I get my mail in the town below, which is almost a 1,500 foot drop from where I stood to snap this picture. The peaks in the distance are around 14,000 feet.

That view does things to me, and I hope it always does things to me. I hope so many things in life continue to have the power to affect me deeply. Although I’ve often made comments about being jaded, and in some respects I’m a very jaded person, I hope I never become immune to the things that make me aware of God’s presence.

Hope all of you have a great week and the weather is as beautiful where you are as it is where I am.

Stopping to Admire the Variety

Another post in the ongoing perusal of FanstRAvaganza goodies which I could not get to last week.

Now this is a motley group! And all hip in some way.

The Queen explores different media for commemorating Tolkien Love, and I’m stunned at what people can do with seemingly mundane items. The only question is could you wear or eat this stuff or would guilt force you to just look at it? :D Okay, I’m smiling, but I’m serious. How do you eat one of those cakes?

Didion reveals that even she is not immune from proselytizing. ;-)

Maria, one of the very first bloggers to mention Richard Armitage at regular intervals (yea! Maria), begins to explain the need for a New Richard III and also treats us to an interview with the author of a North and South continuation. I found interesting the conclusions about what a true marriage of two minds would produce. I’ve got thoughts on that myself. Need to weigh in at some point. LOL!

Jazzbaby is funky as per usual, and I have to say she is one of my favorites. I can’t help it!! She is! And if you read her stuff, you will probably be equally smitten. If you’re not after reading this, then I’m not sure we have much to say to each other. :D But if that’s not enough, you can go further into her mind at your pleasure. All I know is we’re so on the same page about the Spooks writers.

More tomorrow.

Continuing to Smell the Flowers

This is a post in the ongoing attempt to savor FanstRAvaganza. I’m reading through posts this week and next and highlighting some of what I find.

Cat Winchester has been writing fan fiction for a while now, and she shares the benefit of the experience in “Top Tips for Writing Fan Fiction.” She also has an interesting picspam of Goodies and Baddies RA has played.

IngeD3 comes with a plan to assist Peter Jackson in distinguishing the dwarfs. :D This is a blogger whom I wish I knew more about.

The Obsessed Fanatic, aka Rose Gisborne, gives us her day (two versions). Wonderful! and wonderful news from her as well. :)

And then there’s ItsJSforMe who has perhaps found the uh, fallout from reading fan fiction smelling the flowers? ;-)

In case it’s not clear, I’m doing these alphabetically by blog name. More tomorrow.

Richard Armitage “Paper” Dolls?

This one’s for you, Angie.

November Bride and I were talking about how much fun it was to play with paper dolls. My favorite was Betsy McCall, and not being satisfied with the monthly outfits, I made my own out of whatever fabric or paper or magazine photos I could find. Endless hours were spent doing this, and even though I’m a gadget freak, I’m hard pressed to think I had more fun with a set of Walkie Talkies as I had with those scraps of paper. There are still some creations in a keepsake box in the basement, but about a week ago, I had a little regression therapy on the ASOS Fashion Finder site.

These aren’t exactly paper dolls but so much fun!

I’ve been a fan of ASOS since Beth of Richard Armitage checked me out fame turned me onto it. Thank you, Beth! ASOS has some great looks and some great prices especially their sales, and they have free shipping. Yea! Just note that the Fashion Finder site is actually an off-shoot of ASOS and some items are not sold by them.

edit: If you click on the outfits at the Fashion Finder site, it will generate a list of the items and where they can be purchased.

Also, Beth no longer has her blog, but I’ve updated the linked post with a link to her picture. She’s a pretty woman, and I could see RA actually checking her out. :)

Can’t Get Off of This

I have a serious (no, it’s a semi-serious, oh heck, it’s a snark) piece about Lucas North. But I’m saving it for later after I’ve gorged my imagination on Richard Armitage and food. I’m also wondering if all of you have a favorite food you like to eat while watching him — animated or stills. Or perhaps you have a food for him animated and one for him in stills. Bring it on, and yeah, I’m going to tell you mine. :D

Actually, I have a food for each of his characters.

Harry — blackberry cobbler, which is sweet with a zing, and topped with some ice cream.

Monet — some sort of white wine, and does it matter what I eat with it?

Guy — a big chunk of devil’s food cake with lots of hot fudge slathered on top or a steak.

Lucas — blackened red snapper. Fish and chips don’t quite fit him.

John Standring — cheese (any kind) before the transformation and some pudding after.

John Porter — Masgouf and falafel on the side, which I can pop in my mouth as I watch all the episodes in one sitting.

John Thornton — beef stew and later some sort of cream pie (I’m not particular) at the finale.

Ricky — definitely fish and chips, and the greasier the better.

Alex — what else but orangesicles.

John Mulligan — dry toast with nothing on it. Maybe a little butter. And some black coffee.

Heinz — Not sure about this one. No German foods seem to really fit him. I’m at a loss. I did eat nachos and popcorn on my first viewing. Perhaps some German chocolate cake (it’s my favorite cake), or is that too lame?

Yes, I’ve left out a few. Have to think about them some more, but for now I’m thinking about the future:

Thorin — carne asada tacos al carbon. Oh yeah! And something later that’s topped with a chocolate mole. Or I could eat a 1/2 pound cheeseburger in honor of Peter Jackson.

edit: I meant to list one more! Paul — pistachio nuts ’cause they’re salty and a little sweet, and I can’t stop eating them even when I know I should.

A Sunday Morning Treat

This is a reblog of sorts with my commentary thrown in for sweetner.

Richard Armitage is a lover of food, and I love that about him. I also love that indulging in him does not come with calories. Thank you, Richard. But if he were food, he might be something like this:

Avocado Chocolate Pudding
March 25, 2010

It’s 8am and I’ve already devoured an entire batch of chocolate pudding. Think I like chocolate? That goes without saying.

I have a few things in the kitchen that I need to get rid of. Oranges, a pineapple, and an avocado. So, to use up my avocado I threw it in my pudding recipe as a thickener. Think I’m crazy? Maybe. But this unusual recipe turned out to be the best chocolate pudding I’ve EVER tasted. Seriously folks, would I lie to you?

The rest is here.

Oh, that I would have thought of this myself, but I have to be fair. It was suggested by KaliAmanda, who has some wonderful recipes as well. Check out her stuff.
