No, it’s not Dr. White but rather the guy who’s been teasing all of you on Twitter. Who I think is a cutie as well as a tease.
Oh you don’t like my title ’cause the doctor is not that kind of doctor? Wait. Someone else says, “Go ahead and page him. We wanna see what he looks like!” I’m not sure I can satisfy the lust for info, but a fan sent me a couple of pics of the film set she literally happened on. She had gone to the venue to see a sporting event and then noticed there was something else going on. She was kind enough to share some long distance shots from her phone:
And the fan who took these had a friend and recent recruit to the Armitage Army with her. To quote the friend, “He is hot! and better looking in real life.”
Okay, so they’re not the greatest shots of Richard, but if you were overwhelmed by the presence of himself when you weren’t expecting to be, could you really get a good shot? Yeah, that’s what I thought. :D
Dear Elliott:
Please don’t change Richard’s character’s name. “White Hot” is too good to ignore. The Army can have a field day with that. But we need a clear picture, man, or do you want us to apply our imaginations to this thing?

As I said in a previous post, I just adored Nathan Kress in the new movie Into the Storm, and I wanted to find out more about him. So I asked Kelly aka @NBNathanKress, “Why Nathan?”
Her reply:
Like the majority of Nathan’s fans, I first became familiar with him thanks to “iCarly.” The show started off as background noise for me, but by the second season, I started to tune in more. I also learned that a lot of people I knew from other fandoms liked this show. While the show could definitely be wacky, the cast had wonderful chemistry and could tackle both comedy and drama. By the third season I believe, Twitter started to kick off and the fans were able to follow the cast and learn a bit more about them.
One thing that really stood out about this cast was that they all seemed to be pretty well grounded. They didn’t appear to be spoiled Hollywood divas. They were just teens who happened to act. That was refreshing.
I’ve also always had a thing for what I call “adorkable” guys – cute guys who don’t take themselves too seriously. One of the jokes in the Nathan Kress fandom is about his inability to dance. There are plenty of videos and gifs to showcase this. Why this appeals to me? I guess I just enjoy a good laugh. It’s just silly fun.
Another reason I’m a fan of his? This is a big one, but I really admire that Nathan is vocal about his faith in Hollywood and tries to be a role model for his fans. I’ve seen too many stars shrug off this idea. There was even a somewhat recent interview with a Christian website where he went into detail about how his faith defines him and how he wants to be seen as the Christian who acts, not the actor who just happens to be a Christian. I think that’s a really brave thing to do in Hollywood. He also takes part in numerous charities and has even gone to New York City to help the Salvation Army with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
I have also yet to hear of a bad fan encounter. From mall signings to random sightings in LA and NY, fans always talk about how sweet he is and the awesome hugs he gives. I also always get a good laugh any time I read about how good he smells. For those who have gotten to actually visit with him longer, I always hear about how personable he is.
Off the top of my head, I can think of three or four fans who have met him on multiple occasions. For one girl, her first fan encounter was at a signing. When she mentioned her Twitter username, his head popped up and he immediately gave her a hug! Some devoted fans have also been able to visit the set whenever they were in California. One fan got to even have breakfast with him and his girlfriend. Each and every one of these fans come back with lots of stories about conversations they’ve had with him. Oh, and more hugs!
I mainly use Twitter and message forums to interact with other fans. We’re not the largest group, but we are very excited to see Nathan spread his wings in acting – especially in dramatic roles. I think I speak for the majority of his fans when I say that I always felt that Nathan’s strongest scenes in “iCarly’ were the serious moments. Also, the fans loved his appearances on both “CSI” and more recently “Major Crimes.” You can only imagine how ecstatic we were when we got confirmation he was going to be in a major motion thriller! We’re all just super excited to see where his career will take him.So there’s my answer as to why I am a fan of the “adorkable” and talented Nathan Kress.
I love this and especially that he seems to be a person of character. He’s going to weather some storms over that! But that will only make him better and a real light.
Into the Storm was Nathan’s first major motion picture appearance, and I hope to see him again on the big screen very soon.

Entry — Sunday, August 10, 2014:
_______ sent me another song. Every few days she sends one and wants my take on it. Most of them have been great, some good and some okay. But whatever the performance, the sum of her writing is fantastic. Yeah, I’m biased. I can’t help it, but I’m far from alone in that assessment.
She was always a writer and has been successful at it for quite sometime. At barely 20 she went to NYC and landed a good writing job of a few hours a week which more than paid her rent. But writing for someone else was never going to satisfy her. She’s always working on something else, and then she picked up her guitar again and started writing songs. Now SO and I have quite a few on our phones which we can’t stop listening to. They are all rough cuts with all kinds of extraneous noises like her roommate’s hair dryer in the background. I don’t care. They are well written, and some of them I believe could gain something significant.
For the last couple of weeks, part of one song has been on my mind waking up and going to sleep. I have literally gotten up singing it. This prompted me to listen to the whole thing again this evening. It’s about expectations, identity and the desire for acceptance. Despite this song being written for others reasons, I began to see it as something from Richard Armitage and concerning his relationship to us fans. I imagined him singing this song to us and using all sorts of pronouns and of course sincerely but with an occasional sarcastic tone. It made me laugh and think about what may or may not be real.

Maybe these thoughts were also brought on by Lee Pace’s interview in May. Maybe it was reviewing Richard’s interview in the Telegraph and the Sunday Times. Or maybe it’s because SO and I live a public life and have for quite a few years. A lot of our moves are watched, and if either of us look at someone the wrong way or reveal something about ourselves the public isn’t ready to see, it can cause some consternation on the public’s part. I don’t worry about this most of the time when I go into public, because some people are going to think what they want to think no matter what SO or I do. But occasionally something comes back to us that we supposedly said or did, and I’m dumbfounded and feel bad that someone read into our expressions and was hurt by them. Obviously, I’ve read in all kinds of things about Richard Armitage during the life of my blog, and I still wonder what he really thinks, and if I should write what I think about that. I don’t wonder this as often as I did when I first started writing. But that song made me wonder, and that in itself makes it a really good song.

I’m not making light of what happens to people’s lives that are destroyed or never had a chance to flourish, but I’m glad for our guy. No guyliner this time, but I can handle it. Still wondering when he’s going to shave his head though. Yes, I really would love to see that. Hey, he can always grow it back. Have you seen his hair?! Really looked at it? Yeah, the dude has quite a mane — with or without extensions.

I understand a lot is going on with respect to Richard Armitage. Fantastic! It’s wonderful to witness this even if everything hasn’t gone down the way some of us thought it would or have even liked at times. I’m just glad for him, because well, I have spent four years (really more than that) talking about the man and his career. I do have some sort of weird investment in him. CWS out of whack? Maybe, but I don’t care. I just hope he outdoes his expectations of himself. Go, Richard!
As for me, I am outdoing my expectations. Then again, maybe not. I’ve run more than one business, and this is usually what happens — you go out and market and market and market, and things may trickle in for a while, and then there’s a flood. I have never run a business nor been up close and personal to other businesses where this did not happen. Things usually never come in a steady stream. Anyway, I’m up to my eyeballs in work, and if you knew the medical bills the Frenz household is staring down and very possibly future insurance bills, you would know why I’ve got to do this.
The good news is I am having a blast! I’ve said this before, but I can’t stop saying it because I keep falling into clover, as it were. I went to a political gathering a few weeks ago, because a friend of mine is running for office and asked me to help. I did have to think for months and months about helping, because I actually hate politics. But I finally decided to help, hence my presence at a political gathering. While I was at this meeting, someone started talking about my area of expertise and how they needed to hire someone. Then another person chimed in with his needs and another and another and before I left that place, I was loaded up with clients and potential clients. Wow. Wow. Wow.
And get this. I was sick as a dog when I got to this meeting and had to leave early because I was literally swaying on my feet. I made what should have been a four hour drive home in almost seven hours. Doesn’t matter! It was worth it.
I’m just thankful I was ready, and these people were too ’cause they not only want my services but have the money to pay for them. LOL! Yes, I just laughed, and I have a big grin on my face too. Do you know how good it feels to work your tail off and it finally starts paying off?! It’s wonderful.
I feel as if this is happening to Richard Armitage as well. He has worked his backside off. We have seen that over and over with the effort he puts into his characters and heard confirmation of it from the glowing reports his colleagues always give of him. It’s almost as if at times there is a kind of awe of him as a human being. Even Martin Freeman who is a quintessential smartass and who rarely gets serious about anything, got serious about Richard and praised him as a fine human being. Then there are the fans’ reactions to him and I include my own with the consensus being that he is class itself.
And now he seems to be grinning a lot these days, which makes me think he is feeling pretty good and with good reason. Yes, I’ve mentioned this smiling before as well. I can’t stop talking about it because he seems continually unabashed in his pleasure in the last year. Or maybe it’s just me who sees it that way ’cause I’m feeling pretty good myself — and that includes my getting pneumonia. So what! Things are moving forward, and I don’t have time to moan about what hasn’t gone right. In keeping with a high ranking on the CWS, certainly, Richard feels the same. ;-)
Yeah, Rich, I know just how you feel. It’s hard to stop smiling even when you may be tired.
I adore this photo. There is no telling how many times I may use it. I may even use it as a screensaver. Something I have never done with a Richard Armitage photo. Yep, that’s right. I’ve never done it. His beauty has always been contained within my computer or phone. (Sorry, Rich). But I may have to breakdown and use this photo and damn the ribbing I’ll receive.
I enjoy the work of Richard Armitage. Have I been absolutely crazy about everything he’s done? No, and really I doubt I could ever say that about anyone. But for the most part, I have enjoyed his work and obviously think he’s talented and look forward to his future projects. That’s one of the reasons I’m here.
The other reason is that it has been such a great time to talk to all of you and to hear your thoughts as well. Getting to know some of you a little better and becoming friends has been the best part of it. I have formed some really fine friendships in the midst of this craziness and for that alone, this has been worth it.
As far as anything else, I am not part of that class of blogger called a “professional fan.” I have nothing against professional fans. I think I’ve made it clear if people want to do that, go for it! Seriously. But I am not one of those people. I already have something I do professionally, and it has nothing to do with being a fan. In fact, it’s probably boring to most of you, so I won’t bore you with it. It’s probably a good thing I have never used this place to pay the bills ’cause I might not look on it with such lightheartedness.
I also have no desire to be a “big name fan” even though some people have tried to say I am. I am not. Gotten lucky a few times, but anything more is in the minds of others. Yeah, I’m saying I do not see myself that way and the thought is actually laughable to me. The way I see things is this is strictly a fun place for me. It’s an outlet, and I’ve no need of anything else. I’ll be really candid and tell you I’ve had so many awards and accolades in my life — enough to last a few lifetimes — I don’t need recognition here. Whether that sounds cocky or not, I don’t care.
And if I’m taking the bark off the tree, I will tell you I get weary of fans who have this maniacal need to be big name fans. This is not a veiled reference to anyone in particular. Not at all. So please don’t read anything more into what I’m saying. I’m just making commentary on something I’ve seen off and on during my foray into this madness. There are people who get carried away and want to be THE Richard Armitage blogger or site or whatever. When I say this, I’m not talking about people who get excited and post a lot. Hell, I’ve done that. LOL! I’m talking about an attitude, a haughtiness that makes me say, “oh brother,” and it makes me stay very far away from those people. The good news is they eventually burn out because people will not survive as a voice if they do not have the spirit of community. This is even true in business. More so today than probably at any other time because of the Web’s ability to facilitate it. The net of this for fan sites or bloggers is someone who comes with a proprietary attitude toward fandom will probably end up being ignored.
On the other hand, if someone comes in the spirit of collaboration and friendliness, it’s great. This is one reason I so heartily support RichardArmitageNet.com and RichardArmitageCentral.co.uk as major representatives of our fandom. I know the ladies who run those sites, and they are nice, very helpful and approachable and not here for anything other than the pleasure it gives them to provide information for all of you to enjoy their favorite actor. I’m sure there are others I should name, but I have to say thank you in particular to Ali and Julie. Thank you for keeping your heads and not letting some of the fan goofiness infect your views. Thank you for being consistent. Thank you for reaching out and fostering relationships with fans. I believe these are key reasons why you’ve been successful.
Before I go, please know that when I say community, I don’t mean we’re all in lock step. That is so boring. I have never liked it when people have absolutely no difference of opinion. There is nothing thought provoking about that. I like that we may at times disagree about something. I want to hear what you think and why. Maybe there is something I need to learn. That’s how I look at it most of the time. Yes, there are a few times when I think, “No, this is what I think, and I’m pretty firm in it.” But that’s not on most things.
Not sure why I decided to post this. It might have something to do with it being 4:00am as I type this line, and I’ve been up for an hour due to being unable to sleep.

He seems happy with what he’s doing. That sense of lightheartedness and joy has run through almost all of his interviews about Into the Storm, and it has made me rethink the movie. I have taken it way too seriously. Sure the subject matter is serious, but then so was the subject matter of ConAir. and somehow that was fun.
I could be so wrong, but Richard Armitage is a bit readable. I don’t mean about everything he does, but oftentimes he reflects the nature of what he’s working on, and with Into the Storm, I see him smiling a lot:
I’m taking this as a sign we’re in for some fun times come August 8th. And Sharks be damned. :D
In the meantime, I really appreciate Heather sharing her work with all of us. She’s been a wealth of wonderful photos, and dare I say some iconic images of Richard Armitage. It does help that she’s a professional photographer. In fact, I have sometimes forgotten that because she is so laid back about it and just makes it look easy, and she happened to already be working WonderCon. Yay!
