Ripples Rippling

The last day or so has been interesting. I’ve received several notes from fellow fans concerned about my becoming disappointed if Richard Armitage never acknowledges my request of a recorded fan message, and I just received another one a few minutes ago. It’s compelled me to make this post.

I want all of you who sent me a note to know that I really appreciate you trying to allay any possible disappointment on my part. But I have to reiterate that I do call my letters “fake fan letters,” and I do that for a reason. They are larks as is this whole blog really, and if RA or any of “his people” ever see them, that’s great. If not, that’s fine too. I also find it intersting that about once a week someone tells me they think he reads my blog, and I was going to write about this phenomenon eventually. I guess today is the day. I’m sure someone somewhere who’s involved with show business and who has a six degrees of separation thing going on with RA has read my blog. But I’m not too worried about Richard Armitage or anyone close to him reading it and no one else should be either.

And my written letters have been so over the top that no one has ever really taken me seriously and never been concerned about what I’ve said to the point of worrying about my well being. But obviously this latest “letter” has provoked concern, and I think I know why. It was the tone of my voice. My voice is naturally very deadpan, which at times has been a stumbling block for me. I was deadpan almost out of the hatch if Mom and Dad are to be believed, and then I spent most of my adult years working in a profession that was highly technical, and well, deadpan was the way we all communicated, and actually the more deadpan the better. The more deadpan, the more gravitas with that bunch.

But deadpan can sometimes equate to seriousness that may not exist. People who don’t really know me do often think I’m serious when I may not be. Couple that with my attempt to sound emotional, and well, it just doesn’t sound very good. I was being extremely emotional for me in that recording! I was working hard to give a cadence to my voice so that it didn’t sound like I was falling asleep and perhaps making all of you fall asleep as well, but I think it just came off sounding needy. And it was hard work! Yet I knew if I did more than one take that it would sound stilted. So I left it as it is, and to some of you it sounds like I’m hinging my entire being on RA making a recording. Fascinating how much our voices send a message even if we don’t intend it, and apparently, I’m woefully in need of some skills. Richard? Richard? Do you hear that? :D Sorry, I couldn’t resist. However all of this has gone down, I think it’s so fitting that my voice should generate such a reaction given the subject of my FanstRAvaganza posts.

Oh, please don’t get me wrong. I would love it if RA got wind of my request (whether he knew it was mine or not) and responded with a recorded message. I would be tickled, and I would hope the whole fandom would be tickled, and it would never be construed as playing favorites. I’ve also gotten those cautions in the last day too. But the only favorite I’ve wanted him to play is with Nat. Yes! I admit that unabashedly. Guilty as sin on that one! LOL! But do we all agree that Nat is special? Yeah, I thought so. However, I think there’s about a snowball’s chance in hell of that or the recording happening and especially not when I consider the request is by someone from a piddly blog like mine. I’m not trying to wallow in self-deprecation to impress any of you by saying that. Frankly, I have no one in my life to impress. SO and I know each other too well to try to impress each other, so I feel no compulsion to impress anyone, and can I tell you it’s a lovely place to be? Okay, I’ll stop on that because I feel a tangent coming on. Just know that I’m a realist.

But also please know that I’ve never aspired to Richard Armitage reading my blog to have fun here. Thank God! LOL! If I really thought Richard Armitage had time to read all of these blogs, and I was expecting him to receive what I’ve said, I would have gotten my feelings hurt a long time ago. But thankfully, I’m just having some fun, and I hope all of you are as well! Additionally, I just don’t get my feelings hurt too often, and certainly not by someone I don’t know. If we’re talking about SO, that’s a whole ‘nother story. He has the ability to raise an eyebrow at times and hurt my feelings. Poor guy. LOL!

I’m not quite sure what I should label this post. I started to title it “Lighten Up, Francis” but felt that would have been too flippant and ultimately demeaning to those who expressed real concern for me, and again I thank all of you for that. So I’ll just leave it by saying please don’t worry, and let’s get back to having some fun. :D

In that interest, I can’t help but do this:

Dear Rich,

Dude, if you ever really do read my blog, please, please know that I’m not pining for you to respond. Really I’m not. Now I realize this may sound like the lady doth protest too much, but well, I don’t know how else to say it.

Net: I like to watch your stuff whether you’re moving or not, and given that, I do hope you have never felt anything here was done at your expense. That aside, uh, well, uh, dammit, man! I’m having a good time, and I hope the specter of your presence never gets in the way.

Phew, there I said it.

Respectfully,

One of your crazy fans, who has enough serious stuff going on elsewhere to seldom want to get close to it here and hopes you understand that. I think you do! Unless my gut is way off, and I don’t think it is.

P.S. Oh, and hopefully, one day soon you will no longer be a faceless blob on Netflix. :D

I’ve got to have a picture! Hmmm. Let me see. What would put us back on track? Oh yeah:

Finally, my last FanstRAvaganza post.

So far I’ve talked about Richard’s voice work and shared some excerpts from it but have only hit a few points. Originally, I was going to do some really in-depth pieces about the effects of his voice (don’t worry I cover it later) and a piece about his narration of some documentaries and his voice overs in commercials, and maybe offer to make some ringtones. There is simply not enough time to cover it all in a few pieces, and don’t you think I’ve dragged this FanstRAvaganza thing out long enough? If you are interested in some of those other works, RichardArmitageCentral has an archive here.

The rest of this post won’t really be about Richard’s works but more about some of you, and it’s only fitting my last post includes some very imaginative and funny bloggers. I’ve already talked about bccmee being funny, and if you’ve watched some of her videos, you know how imaginative they are. Yet she says she was never creative before making fanvideos of Richard Armitage?! Having a hard time believing her great imagination kicked in on viewing him, but maybe it did. I know it’s had a dramatic effect on mine. Sadly, due to technical difficulties, I could not get a recording of bccmee, but you can read more about her here and also be sure to read her FanstRAvaganza posts which start here.

Another clever one is Skully, who has been slammed on time a bit lately (I can relate!), so I couldn’t get a recording of her either. If you’ve never read SpooksFanBlog, I hope you will treat yourself! It’s never dull.

Pi is another one who is never dull. Her view of the world and her humor are most closely related to SO‘s. Obviously, I can’t help loving her stuff. I’ve said a time or two how much I like her writing, and I’ll keep saying it until some more of you go over there and read it, and nope, I didn’t get a recording of her either!

Last of the bloggers but absolutely not least (none of them are!) is Traxy of TheSqueee. For this event, she picked a very interesting topic — Richard, An Ordinary Leicestershire Lad. I hope you read her thoughtful and intriguing posts. She says some things I’ve been thinking, and she’s also been a pleasure to read regarding various and sundry subjects which have nothing to do with RA. I did get a recording of her and will admit listening to this one the most. That’s saying something since I’ve enjoyed all of them immensely! (Oh, how easy it is to use exclamation points now.:D)

Yeah, that was maybe a wee bit entertaining. ;-) And for those who may not know it, Traxy had to pay homage to ABBA since she’s from ABBA land. Read more about her here.

Onto some more of you fans who are a delight.

Here’s one of my Twitter pals. Quite a character too:

Isn’t she great?!

Note: interrupting this post for a sermonette short message: this section of my post was going to include several fans who submitted wonderful recordings, but they chickened out. Yeah, that’s what it was, but I understand. Really! I do understand it. When I get further down in this post, I’m not sure that I’m not also going to chicken out. What’s interesting is all of these fans are fairly young, and the only one who had the guts (No taunts; no, I would never taunt anyone.:D) was Sheepa , who will get to reign in solitary splendor unless some of you grow a spine. ;-)

No Radio 4 listener here LOL!

So that makes Sheepa only 16 when she became a fan. Yeah, I can see that. I know another previous 16 year old who really went for him. :D

Thanks, Sheepa. For the rest of you, see how easy that was?

I hope you know that I’m teasing those of you who decided against publishing and certainly respect your right not to publish. But I also hope some of you relent so that I am not the only one who has the privilege of listening to your marvelous recordings.

Moving onto a fan who is a Radio 4 listener:

My new RAFrenzy header by Karima, who so graciously and beautifully modified my old one after I was hit with a bunch of emails from people wanting to see wet, dirty Guy again. So there you are. :D

edit: The reason I call my letters fake fan letters is I hold little or no hope that Richard Armitage will ever be aware of them. If he is, great. If not, that’s fine too. All I know is I’m having a blast! and wouldn’t it be cool if he recorded the next message?!! Maybe someone who really has his ear can ask him.

Catching the Wave

Before I go any further with this post, I want to comment on the other FanstRAvaganza bloggers. They have some wonderful and just downright fun pieces. Hope you take a look!

I had a debate with myself about this post, and I love it when I do that because no matter the decision, I win. So hang on. :D

Early on in my knowledge of Richard Armitage I read an interview with him where he mentioned auditioning for a part requiring an American accent:

[Richard’s] been to a Los Angeles audition for a role as a CIA agent in a television pilot. Armitage tells a story about his casting session that just about sums up this man’s pleasing blend of confidence and modesty. “I’d practised my American accent really hard so I could get the part just right. When I finished reading, the casting people said, ‘Wow! That was great… Now would you mind doing it again with an American accent?'”

Read the entire interview here.

These were the days of my fan odyssey when I still thought Richard almost walked on water. That pleasing blend of confidence and modesty is indeed powerful. Sigh. …………………………………………………………………………….. Oh, Pardon me. What was I saying? Oh yes, I was really having a hard time believing he couldn’t nail an American accent. “The god known as Richard Armitage” not being able to pull American?! It wasn’t happening. Of course I was curious to hear him do it and heard it all sorts of ways in my head. Fast forward almost three years, and I finally heard him one night on BBC Radio 3. It sounded nothing like I had imagined:

My first thought was Nooooooooo! where has my RA gone?! I think I said to someone at the time that I would be fine with him never doing an American accent! Thankfully, it’s been a while since I listened to that snippet, and I find it doesn’t have quite the jarring effect it did the first time around. Yes, I’ve always appreciated his attempt, but it was hard not to dissect it. In fact, there was quite a discussion here amongst several of us. I think most Americans liked it, but it seems we all had pointers about how he could do it differently. Certainly, for the reading of Dos Passos, a New York accent was necessary, but I’m adamant about how his first foray into American should have gone. LOL!

Dear Richard:

I guess you know that many American women are fairly smitten with men who speak in English accents. Oh, you thought that bit in “Love Actually” was a joke? I would love to say it is, but a significant number of us are really that entranced by the voices of English men. So I have to admit that I already had a bias against you speaking American although I really wanted to hear what it would sound like.

I prefer you English. No need to sink to our level with an American accent. No, really, I mean that. But if you’re so inclined, some of us have a request of you:

Oh, you would definitely be charmed by it all. The part I love most is how outrageous we’re allowed to be by comparison to other parts of the country. ;-)

So I was thinking maybe a reading of Harper Lee, Walker Percy, or Flanner O’Connor next time.

Sincerely,
One of your crazy fans whose love of a Southern Gentleman is only surpassed by love of an Englishman. :D

P.S. The South really does have the best food (ducks).

Apologies to my “Yankee” friends. I couldn’t resist. Seriously, I don’t care what accent he uses. Whomever he chooses to play and however he chooses to play it I’m sure will be lovely. I’m sure he will craft it well. If he can do Maori, I’m sure he can do American. But my control freak just had to get a plug in for something that would be like a dream to me — RA playing Southern Gentleman ala Atticus Finch. However, I stand by my food comment. LOL! And thanks to Angie for lending her talents again. She may have found a new profession. :D

CW Breaking Out All Over

Sheez I’m gone for one day and an epidemic occurs from this Hobbit Press Conference. But who can blame anyone for being afflicted with Celebrity Worship when the object of our adoration easily makes us break out in a sweat. Even some of the Tolkien fans, who seem to be above that sort of thing, were affected:

Richard Armitage (Thorin) spoke surprisingly little, but when he did he had a notably deep voice, exactly right for Thorin, and real gravitas. He walked into the conference with a kind of testosterone charged lope. I don’t think he’ll have any trouble holding the audience’s attention.

Complete article here.

Uh huh, his “testosterone charged lope,” among other things ;-), is going to hold some attention, and he’s just getting started. LOL! Yeah, I was right — won’t know what hit ’em, and some of these people are just getting a little taste of what’s coming.

All of that aside, I love that he’s just a guy here:

The “guy” almost jumps out of the video and grabs me. Loving this. Yet it seems this “guy” has been hiding. Before when Richard has been interviewed, we’ve mostly seen the sensitive artist, whose tacit message to women was, “I’m a little boy in a man’s body and my inner child hears you and understands.” :D But now he’s revealed a man for all of us to rhapsodize over! ………………………………………………………………. Excuse me I had to put myself back in my chair. All I know is I was fairly smitten by what I saw, and I’ve become rather jaded about these things. I thought. I take heart in the fact that no woman in her right mind could withstand that!

Seriously, it was evident the little boy was almost completely submerged by the man when even the talk about his first time on stage as an elf could not conjure it. The man was firmly in place. However, I wonder if the boy isn’t sensing the new tidal wave of affection that’s coming and shrinks from it. What else am I to make of this picture? LOL!

I feel a letter coming on. Oh, hell yes, this demands a fake fan letter.

Dear Richard:

You’re in my prayers, my friend. You think this Army thing is overwhelming? Get ready. That’s going to seem like a walk in the park. You keep coupling that stare with eyelids at half mast and deep voice with your “testosterone charged lope,” you will not have a moment’s peace.

I’ve long thought that if you catch on in America, you are going to go off the charts, but with ‘The Hobbit’ appealing to a worldwide audience, Ohmygosh! just thinking about this is… I can’t process it.

Back to my prayers for you and especially strong ones when I think that you will not be able to hide behind a beard as some actors are wont to do.

Signed,
One of Your Crazy Fans Who is Almost Fearful for You :D

The journey of the Beard continues.

Where in the World is Richard?

I read Maria Grazia’s post which talks about the coming dearth of things RA, and she mentioned he’s somewhere in New Zealand getting ready for the filming of ‘The Hobbit.’ Hmmm. I wonder. I realize some cast members have already headed there, but if RA is a creature of habit, which he more or less keeps telling us he is, I think he’s possibly in Europe getting in a little slope time before he reports for Dwarf Camp. Unfortunately, February is probably the best month to ski in Europe as the conditions are usually warm enough for making snow regularly and cold enough to maintain a nice pack, but maybe he can get in a little skiing at the end of January.

Or maybe the skiing that RA talks about is just something innocuous to discuss during interviews? A bone for his fans? I don’t believe that. I live in ski country and know how addictive it can be. It has a thrill unlike anything else, and if you’re skiing in a place that has lots of powder, oh man! phew! indescribable.

But the control freak in me demands this fake fan letter:

Dear Rich,

I hope you are enjoying the skiing, and if you ever made it to my part of the world, you would have to bring a pair of fatties for all of this powder.

Oh, yeah, I know the age old argument of hardpack vs. packed powder, but most people who experience packed powder, and especially champagne powder, never want to go back to that crap that is hardpack. Some skiers I know think it’s better than sex. I’m not sure I agree with that, but then I don’t get to the steeps too often. Like never.

Nearly twisting my foot off the end of my leg, and now having an ankle that looks something like this is probably the reason. LOL! Let me put it this way. My knee was straight, and my foot was pointing left between a 45° and 90° angle. I’m not kidding (picture me with my tongue hanging out). They gave me laughing gas in the ambulance, but I never did laugh. LOL! So glad I can laugh now ’cause it was more painful than natural childbirth. The end result is I haven’t been downhill skiing in awhile. I stick to cross country skiing, which has enough challenges, but there are no thrills like downhill. It’s just sheer, cussed work.

The first time I did cross country after my accident, I fell over halfway through the track. A friend of mine, who is an avid skate skier, came skidding to a halt near me, and offered to help me up. I just whimpered and said, “No…no, I need to wallow here for a bit.” Eventually I stood up, and things got easier each time after that, but it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever forced myself to do! So whenever I think of you skiing, I say a little prayer for you, my friend. I hope you never have to endure rehab.

Sincerely,
The Gimp (aka One of your crazy fans)

edit: I was wrong about Richard’s whereabouts, but it’s always fun to speculate.

Dear Mr. Jackson

My spate of fake fan letters to Richard Armitage a while back inflamed my control freak and exacerbated my need to give an opinion on matters whether I know jack about them or not. Frankly, it’s been hell to keep that urge tamped down, but today, I couldn’t hold it back any longer.

January 13, 2011

Dear Mr. Jackson,

I put myself on the receiving end of #thehobbit via my Twitter account, and I’ve learned all kinds of interesting things. Phew, man, I thought I was passionate about Richard Armitage! I have nothing on those “guys” at TheOneRing site. My zeal for RA is a school girl crush beside their passionate love affair with Tolkien and with you. I guess I can respect them for that, and I wasn’t so much surprised by their ardor as I was at how much credence they are given by the press.

That knowledge compelled me to read their “about” page where I discovered their close relationship with you, and this has me wondering how much you are affected by what is said there as well as effect what is said. I’m envious of the relationship you seem to have worked out with this bunch of fanatics. Richard has a sort of arrangement with his fanatics too, but it doesn’t appear to be as comfortable as yours. Maybe you can give him some pointers? ;-)

By the way, it had been a while since I’d seen a picture of you, so imagine my surprise when I started reading up on ‘The Hobbit,’ and found this:

Wow!

If you ever read this blog or almost any of the other blogs on Richard Armitage, you would know that we do a bit of fangirling at times. Well, we try not to do it so much we look like bimbos, but then bimbo is a relative term. However, when we do fangirl, there is usually a PHWOAR! heard from someone. So in honor of your recent fitness, I give you a decided PHWOAR! Seriously, you look pretty sexy in this picture, and I already thought your mind was sexy. Phew! Can I get an amen from anyone? By the way, I adore your hair. Truly. I love it! And maybe that is a hairstyle you’re just partial to anyway? I know I am. A certain warrior and lieutenant are coming to mind.

Have a wonderful day, and I hope your wife is aware that she may have to beat the women off with a stick.

Signed,

A crazy fan of Richard’s

P.S. Thought you might be interested in this very well done treatment of your latest activities.

Note to Action Fans: yes, this is mostly bullshit although I do respect Peter Jackson’s abilities, and I think he looks pretty hot in that picture.

Note to Nat: I’m working on my piece.

Edit: yes, I know it’s Sir Peter and not Mr. Jackson; I have since apologized. :D

Thank you, Richard

Sincere letter to Richard Armitage:

Dear Richard,

You are proving that I am indeed terribly jaded and need to realize this more. It was my belief that you would not give a Christmas message, that you had moved on beyond the place where you started, and didn’t have time for that anymore. I realize in some respects that you have to move on, but to send a Christmas message this year when you are so busy and one that is still so honest, is amazing to me.

I have fought this idea that you really are a nice guy and have kept wanting to think it was all a sham, but you didn’t have to send that message. And you even admitted you did it in a moment of panic about how you may be perceived. Wow. I commend you for that kind of transparency.

Thanks again for all the delightful entertainment you give us, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and fantastic 2011, and ditto on the yikes!!

Sincerely,
One of your crazy fans who’s a little softer as of this moment.

I hesitate to call this a fake fan letter.

For those of you who haven’t seen Richard’s Christmas Message of today, go to RichardArmitageOnline. It’s on the first page, but you might have to scroll down a bit to see it.

Moving Right Along — SPOILERS

Spoilers for Spooks Series 9 and maybe Spooks 2 and 3.

I’m mostly over my disappointment of Spooks Series 9, but I would not have had such high hopes if it weren’t for Richard Armitage. When I know he’s in a cast, his investment in characters raises the bar for me. This was certainly the case with this show the last few series. But earlier I had let my expectations of Spooks slide after the first couple of episodes of Series 3, aka the final resolution of Tom Quinn. A commenter on my last post describes the effect well:

what…I have seen of the last 9 seasons, shows me they REALLY struggle with character development. The personal story arc leave much to be desired. For those that love Spooks, the weak character story arcs are fine. They do JUST enough to support the action, and that is enough for them. For me… it leaves me unsettled.

It seems unsettled might be the point. That is indeed how I’ve felt through most of Spooks, and being unsettled addicted me to it. I was continually in search of something to satisfy. Yeah, I was totally manipulated by the producers of this show for awhile, but I was growing weary of it until Richard Armitage was announced as a cast member in Series 7.

With the advent of Lucas North, I was relieved and my expectations were raised again and then some, and by the end of Series 7, I had a lot of hope for a great story. Richard joining the cast appeared an opportunity for Spooks to go way beyond what they had done before since they now had someone who could really pull off conflicted characters in a way Matthew Macfadyen has never even come close to doing in any of his pieces. No offense to Matthew. I appreciate his acting, but he’s no Richard Armitage.

And now we all know it wasn’t meant to be. The show is what it is, and the character of Lucas North is a miss for Richard, which is in no way a slap to RA. He did what he could with what he had. I think many of us are agreed on that. I just hope he was taking notes — not just on the artistic aspects of this show but on the business end, and more specifically on the bullshit that goes on behind the scenes. How can I know that? Are people and money involved?

Richard,

I believe you took notes on the bullshit and that you’re still taking notes. It’s figuring out the bullshit that’s a big part of getting something done. But I’m sure I’m not telling you something you don’t already know, or maybe I’ve strayed into what Servetus calls “B” or maybe “A” in Armitage Epistemology. I stray so boldly because my bullshit detector is sensitive enough to realize when someone else has a bullshit detector. And well, actually, I have the track record to prove that, but that’s another story.

For now the beauty of someone like me writing this stuff is that you don’t have to say it. You don’t have to call bullshit yourself. Let your fans say it for you so that you can maintain good ties with some of those same people who were involved in the crap that was Spooks this series. I realize you can’t burn bridges, so let us rail against this for you. Hey, I’m a business person, so I know how important it is not to ever burn a bridge. It may be an escape route someday or a great road to somewhere else. It’s funny how some of the crappiest experiences can put us in touch with people who become great assets. I’m sure you’ve learned that lesson by now. Good!

All of that and the fact you’re not spending much of your money means to me that you will eventually have your own production, and as much as I love your acting, I can’t wait to see what you’ve got. If it’s about Richard III, that’s great. If not, that’s great too. I don’t really care.

In the meantime, I’m glad to see you’re going to be in the movies and now free of serialization. You are better suited to vehicles that have a beginning, a middle and an end. I can hardly wait!

Take care, and speaking for many other fans, please know that we’re all so proud of you,

One of your crazy fans (crazy like a fox)

A picture of Richard listening to obvious bullshit:

I cannot tell you how good it feels to write these fake fan letters. Yes, I’ve said that before, but it bears repeating. I get to relieve my angst and peddle my bullshit, and no one is hurt. At least I don’t think anyone is hurt — except maybe the writers of Spooks in this case.

Note to the writers: sorry guys, but this one really wasn’t a good a series, and I think you know that. But I’ll keep watching ’cause I’m still addicted.

And before I go, another picture of Richard listening to bullshit. I had to post this one because it’s so cute, and I love it when he has an amused look on his face:

If you haven’t seen the interview this is from, you can go here and here thanks to Heather.

Screencaps courtesy of my stash.

edit: I would have a tag called “bullshit,” but then I would be tagging most of this blog.

I Can’t Help Myself

So Richard did an interview for Woman’s Weekly (actually it sounds like another interview and maybe they just picked it up? even the picture was a recycle), and now we know where the underpants came from, but knowing Mulubinba, I know it was not her. She has too much class for that! And I thought that even before I read her piece.

But take note, fellow fans, this interview is why I will never send a letter to Richard Armitage. I’m too proud, and not afraid to admit it. LOL! The real issue is that there is too much room for things being misconstrued. Okay, I did throw in with Nat’s letter, but that was different; it was about Nat. Plus, Nat’s a class act who is obviously funny and respectful, and if Richard Armitage doesn’t appreciate that, then he’s not who I’ve been led to believe. By the way, I’ve been wondering about that letter lately. Nat?

All of this begs a fake fan letter.

Dear Richard,

I love your honesty. It’s startling sometimes how honest you are, and I felt for you when some fans got their knickers in a twist about your comments awhile back and you felt compelled to address them. A word of advice from someone who understands what it feels like to live in a glass house: if someone gets their knickers messed up over this interview, I hope you ignore those people and don’t feel the need (out of being so nice) to respond. You can never appease your critics and that includes fans. Hey, I may be one of those fans who criticizes at times, and to be honest, I have and probably will again. That doesn’t mean I don’t love ya. I’m just really honest too.

But I have to chuckle at the response to this interview so far. Earlier I compared your words about fans like pebbles going into a pond. That picture is too serene. No, it’s like someone startling the hens in a coop. Thankfully, this hen is decidedly unstartled. Yeah, I think I said that earlier too. Sorry, my honesty gets the best of me sometimes, so I just blurt out what I’m thinking.

All of that aside, I’m curious about something. Is it possible to determine if a package is inappropriate before you open it? Maybe someone who has no emotional attachment to you can open the blasted stuff before you see it?

Sincerely,

One of your crazy fans (but not so crazy to send you underwear)

Oh, there is so much more to mine from that interview, but I’ve got to stop. Maybe more later. For now I’m on my way out the door to somewhere else again. For those of you who know, I’ve got eight days until the season ends. I’m glad for my little SO, but I’m also tired and need a break!

edit: Late breaking news (for me anyway): it was Nat who sent the pants!! Say it ain’t so, Nat!! Oh wait, I should have finished the piece first. She’s full of it. ;-)

second edit: I really am trying to get out the door and apparently moving so fast, I forgot the link to the Woman’s Weekly article, and to say THANK YOU to RichardArmitageNet.Com for posting it.

Move Over Flat Stanley

Stick Figure Richard (SFR as fans affectionately refer to him) is a man who maddens women. He may also be a genius who has discovered the secret of transmitting pheromones through the really small screen — YouTube. How else to explain that within hours of his first appearance fans all wanted their own SFR? Natazukii may have to create a fan club. ;-)

And I had thought that SFR fever was confined to a small number of bloggers, but now I know it’s much more widespread. Otherwise how to explain normally level-headed female friends from various and sundry blogs and forums who became flushed-cheek and bright-eyed at the possibility of finding SFR in their mailboxes? “Oh, my God. Oh, my God. But he is gorgeous,” cried the most frenzied, and at possibility of receiving hers in the mail, one asked, “Listen, do you think it would be totally unprofessional if I took him to work?”

Now it seems that SFR really gets around. First he was in Canada, then the U.S. Now he’s across the Atlantic, and I notice he was smart enough to visit Spain after the Running of the Bulls. Oh, yeah, SFR is one clever piece of parchment, and I’m sure he knows how to get in and out of tight places.

I only have one question: where is the paper doll to build him up? “Given that I’m going to be abroad for the next six months, it’s no bad thing to be single this year,” he says ruefully. “It’s a peripatetic existence I’ve seen others struggle with.” Ooh, words like peripatetic make my heart skip a beat, and he actually knows what they mean!

So all you paper dolls listen up. You’ve got a shot in six months. Wonder what kind of vellum is alluring to him. Something to think about when you quit dreaming about Lucas.

Apologies to Patricia Nicol who wrote the original Times piece.

Candid shot is mine, and I can’t think of a more fitting “frame” than the “horns” from a deer hunt.

This post was Nat inspired. Yeah, I’m sure that’s obvious, but I still wanted to say it. Thanks for the good times, Nat.

edit: and I can’t forget about Richard Armitage:

Dear Rich,

Thank you for being a good sport. Well, I assume you’re a good sport.

Sincerely,
One of your crazy fans

edit: I’ve changed the link to the Times Piece so that it is accessible again, and I’m grateful to the ladies at Richard Armitage Central, who made it possible for me to have something to link. Thank you, Ladies for all the great work you do!!
