The Hum of Rippling

Did I mix my metaphors? Do you care? If you’re a normal RA fan you’re already looking at the photo below and have such a glazed look that you don’t even realize what I’ve typed above it, but I press on. A few hours ago Jonia made a post about her latest find. I wasn’t going to post but rather just Tweet about it. When I saw so much posting about it, I thought, “What the hey. I’ll ripple too.” :D

This photo is my favorite (see the link to more at Jonia’s blog piece):

Yeah, he’s beautiful.

Diary of an RA Fan — Part 697 Dragged Back From the Edge

Entry — December 16th, 2011:

Every time I think I’m done with this Richard Armitage addiction, something happens to keep me from making the leap away from it. When I see one of his candid pictures with those piercing eyes, I have a flood of thoughts that makes me want to get on my computer and start writing. It’s not that I fantasize about the guy (yeah, I know that no one is ever going to believe that even if it’s true), but he is compelling. Looking at the picture from the Macbeth tour makes it obvious why I think he will be a megastar if the American public ever really gets hold of him. But then there are so many variables, and maybe the guy doesn’t want that kind of fame. Shaking my head as I write this and thinking no way in hell I would want that kind of attention. How could you have a normal relationship when you have that kind of magnetism in a mere photograph? And for American women to drool over it? Not sure what I think, but apparently, I’m still addicted to whatever this is.

How in the world I ever thought this guy wasn’t nice looking I’ll never know. Maybe I was sick that day. Something was going on to distract me.

note: I had to post that photo twice. :D

Just When I Was Getting Bored

One of my lovely, wonderful, incredible fellow Richard Armitage fans has treated us all by unearthing a couple of photos that are in the public domain (fingers crossed here) that many have not seen:

He went from this:

to this:

Damn!

That incredible looking man with the sweet boy hopefully still inside him.

Photo find courtesy of Wendy. Top one supposedly associated with 42nd Street. Bottom one supposedly taken in the Twin Towers after a New York performance of Macbeth.

Thank you, Wendy. I’m wonderfully refreshed in the middle of this terrible drought. :D

edit: Did I just compromise my principles? I’m not sure. If I did, then I’ll run backwards. It’s my understanding that these pictures are in the public domain, or I would not have posted them. Sadly, some may be there unintentionally. I have no way of knowing that, so I posted.

Tangent — Wake up, People

Are you a voter in the U.S.? Please watch this video:

We are all in jeopardy of a dangerous precedent being set with this type of government control, and it doesn’t even do what’s intended. So what control will they take next to try to ensure that it does? And the only ones who really are affected are the honest people. Haven’t we lost enough already in the interest of preserving order? If you still do not understand what kind of power will be ceded to our government, then we need to talk.

If you are already convinced this is a dangerous bill, but you don’t know what to do about it, call or send an email to your representatives, and you can also sign a petition. I signed this one.

Here’s a little more about the urgency of the situation:

Call Congress Today And Let Them Know (Again) That You Are Against SOPA
from the they-don’t-seem-to-be-getting-the-message dept

Rep. Lamar Smith is getting ready to cement his legacy as passing the first bill to create a permanent “black list” of censored websites in the US… and most of Congress still doesn’t understand that the American public is vehemently coming out against this bill. It’s very, very likely that Smith will get the Judiciary Committee to approve the bill tomorrow, at which point it could go to a full vote on the floor at any time. Yes, a bunch of the members of the Judiciary Committee plan to vote to censor the internet tomorrow, and they still don’t believe the public cares about this.

edit:

Whether you’re conservative or liberal, we’re going to lose something here, and as usual, it will be in the name of protection.

Tintin Looks Interesting

I’m contemplating seeing this movie. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a movie theater, and it would be nice to get out of the house. SO was talking about taking our eleven year old to see it, and my extreme eagerness was duly noted with a look askance that said, “What is going on?” My look back, “Nothing. I just thought _________ might love this movie, and it is the holiday season. Maybe we can go on opening night?”

I refuse to believe Richard Armitage is corrupting my reputation. What is it to me that I’ve watched the cheesy Robin Hood, then more cheesy Captain America, and now… But I’m doing it so my kid will have some entertainment, and I’m sure she would love the trailers:

The Vagaries of Google or A Sign?

I’m up all night typing and came over to check my blog where I noticed “cooked turkey.jpg” is at the top of “TOP POSTS”. A query of stats shows that “cooked turkey.jpg” skyrocketed as an accessed page. What the hell?!! So I had a few friends query it to see what they got. It seems Google has been so kind as to have my site come up at the top or near it when “cooked turkey” is searched. I might take it as a sign, but I refuse to. This is too much fun. Plus, I’ve lived in cyber world long enough to understand that you never know exactly what you’re gonna get with Google. I would rather think this than assume the feds are hacked about my rant over the TSA searches. LOL!

Now for something better than cooked turkey:

Okay, back to the typing.

Hope you all have a lovely evening. :)

RA’s Diary — Fan Love Revisited Again and Again

RA’s Diary

Entry — December 11, 2011:

Damn! Christmas is two weeks away, and I’ve got to get some shopping done. This adventure in New Zealand is fantastic but leaves so little time for those things I used to do so easily.

And I’m not sure what I think of the fans anymore. Yes, I really appreciate them. I mean I really, really, really appreciate them, and I’ve said so over and over again, but I wonder if I can ever say it enough for them. Can I ever really satisfy some of these people? I can’t, but I want to. I don’t want them to think me a wanker. I am not a wanker! I wish they understood that I just can’t keep up the kind of intimacy we had in the beginning. I hate I can’t do that. I wish we could keep up the fun that happened then, but the newer fans who want that just aren’t going to get it. I’m only one person. And then there are the fans who think they really know me and want me to know them. Scary stuff at times and such a drain.

Note to self: compose another Christmas message and tell Mum to prepare for the deluge.

note from Frenz: Of course it’s another fake diary entry. My control freak has taken over again, so that I not only speak for myself but for everyone else that I can. :D And now for my canned disclaimer.

Disclaimer:

At no time in the writing of this entry did I imagine I was really speaking for Richard Armitage nor did I deceive myself into thinking I really know his thoughts. Therefore, there is no need to involve his agent or manager or publicist in what is supposed to be humorous. Of course I realize tone on the net is not always properly conveyed, and hey, I’m not a writer (I just have lots of crap I want to say), so I’m not taking the chance of being misconstrued. You do know this is supposed to be humorous? LOL! If not or if you are action fans RA picked up during the Strike Back airing, I put in LOL to make that clear.

Yes, I Am On a Caffeine High

Phew! When the family finally lets me have some coffee, they just leave the house.

Karima just popped up with one of her amazing pics. I’ve already posted this scene today, but you have to see her work. Go ahead and click it to enlarge:

It seems to have a 3-D quality as well as looking like a painting.

So Fine He Missed It

Ali over at RichardArmitageNet.Com just put up some screencaps of RA in ‘Doctors’ (c. 2001). Yes, I’ve seen these before, but I’ll bet some of you haven’t:

A few thoughts about these. First, he is drop dead gorgeous by almost anyone’s standards. Second, I know a few childhood experiences can damn near eclipse a profusion of experiences in adulthood, but my gosh! this man has to have some awareness that he’s not ugly. Third, I look at those two pictures and get hacked all over again at that godawful cover of ‘North and South.’ I’ve said it before and I can’t help repeating: whoever did that cover must have been jealous!

edit: Yes, I’m going get back to Lucas North, but I’m still struggling with my blog pieces.

Snark-a-RAma

I really needed to make this post considering WordPress now has snow on their home page. There’s something about it which makes me feel like a whip is being cracked behind me. Maybe I watched too many Budweiser commercials as a kid. Or is it just me who thinks about Clydesdales when it snows? Of course I had to Google that. Who needs to spend money for entertainment when you can just run odd searches on Google? I was looking for an image to go with the Budweiser crack and found this picture of a fairly newborn kid. Yeah, go ahead and check it out, and then read the whole blog piece. Maybe they don’t care if their newborn’s picture comes up in the midst of a bunch of mammoth sized horses, some suggestively clad women, some weirdness, and the dalmatian. Can’t forget him. And I almost forgot the clocks. I was fascinated with the clocks when I was little. The thought that the horses might break free was always a question. So what does all of this have to do with Richard Armitage? Not much except that I felt it might be “enlightening” for you to be in on how I go into snark mode. You thought I just turned that on and off at a whim? Oh hell, no. I have to descend into it, and Google is immensely helpful for facilitating. Okay, I’m down there now; we can start talking about fangirling again.

Now the segue to dear ol’ RA. For that I needed to visit Tumblr. Tumblr scares you more than Twitter?! You’re taking it all too seriously. It’s not serious. No, I’m serious; it is not serious. You saw a Tumblr that was serious? That must be one of the five that are. The rest are full of shit.* Oh, you need proof it’s not serious? I’ve got plenty, and I’m not sure which of these was first. Does it matter? Of course not. Just sit back and let it roll over you. Don’t think; just feel. That’s the point of Tumblr — no thinking (almost no thinking); just feeling.

click the images for the fun:

and of course this one:

Wait. Maybe this is serious.

By the way, I disagree with this confession. It’s fine to obsess over one character. Further thought: who died and made this person the fandom czar? LOL!

*euphemism for playing around ;-)
