I think they’re messing with us. Yeah, Peter Jackson and his bunch are definitely onto us. :D But what PJ doesn’t know is that I think I have a crush on Dion. That’s who I would want to hang out with if I got a chance to visit the set. Dion’s job looks really interesting. I might tear myself away to take a gander at RA every now and then too.

Once again I’m struck with his ability to command attention simply by his bearing, and no, I don’t think it’s just a case of CWS. At the risk of sounding inane, surely we can’t be the only ones who see this?!!
Hobbiton! What a wonderful tribute to Tolkien and a magnificent playground for Peter Jackson and his crew. I became tickled at witnessing the descriptions of the village and couldn’t help thinking it a massive toy. But I mean no disrespect. I envy Sir Peter’s ability to do what he loves and bring such affirmation and adulation to a place he adores — New Zealand. And who wouldn’t love what we’ve seen? It’s lush and yet firm — the velvet rolling hills and jagged mountains peeking through at times and then overwhelming to remind of their solidarity and unrelenting pursuit of the sky. How many places on earth have those qualities? It’s a special place. And it struck me that those qualities are often manifest in Richard Armitage. It’s almost as if this place was made for him.

Finally finished the Stanislavski book, and I also watched the first episode of Spooks 7 last night. It was good, but then I’m so in the bag for Richard Armitage. Can he do something mediocre? Probably, but I haven’t seen it yet. And I was so curious about this character after watching one of his promo interviews:
When he talked about being water boarded, I kept thinking of Stanislavski’s point about the unbroken line:
‘The life of a person or of a part’, explained the Director, ‘consists of an unending change of objects, circles of attention, either on the plane of reality or of the imagination, in the realm of memories of the past or dreams about the future. The unbroken quality of this line is of utmost importance to an artist, and you should learn to establish it in yourselves…

It seems all of my life I’ve been trying to establish this unbroken line, but I’ve been too distracted by what I think is supposed to happen instead of letting things happen and embracing them for what they are. Too impatient, but then I, well, I don’t know what I think anymore.
I talked to Mom today, and she still has yet to get a clean bill of health, but if she gets it, I hope we can make our trip. It would be so much fun to maybe get on the set of Spooks and see how it’s filmed. Still think it would be cool if she met Richard Armitage. I can’t buy her anything she can’t buy herself, so if I could pull that off, it would be wonderful. As for me, certainly, I would love to watch him at work. Probably won’t happen, but it’s fun to ponder.

I readily admit I might be a bit jaded. When I see something like this, it’s hard not to think it’s a bunch of people who are in need of meaning in their lives, seek out a “noble” cause toward that end but are drawn mostly in a visceral fashion and often ignorant of how the situation came to be. And in their ignorance, they are vulnerable to being manipulated by forces beyond their kin. Yes, this can describe all of us at one time or another. LOL!
Okay, I’m going on the record that Washington shafted us with the bank bailout and was done by both parties. Those guys aren’t up there for you and me. Maybe half dozen are really up there as advocates for the people. The rest are up there for their own asses, and I doubt these protests are going to do much to change that. The protests will serve little more than to move another group into power.
When I see a real grassroots movement of Americans that is not politically motivated, I might sing another tune. I would so love to sing another tune.
Until then it’s a shame the bad guys on Wall Street usually look like this:

At least with the latter, you would enjoy the view while you were getting screwed.

I hope Heather got to go to the Red Carpet for Captain America. For those who don’t know, Heather is a fan extraordinaire, and I have a soft spot for her because she’s a good hearted person, and she’s the one who turned me onto RA. LOL!

I didn’t think it was possible, but there are people who read my blog who have seen little or no ‘Robin Hood’ hence the spoiler tag. If you do not know the full story of Guy of Gisborne, please don’t read this piece. Just watch the show.
Last chance to bail. :D
Two years ago today I was waiting anxiously for the resolution of Guy. I had been waiting well over a year to find out his ultimate fate after his killing Marian, and it was so much more than wanting to know the resolution of that situation. It had transcended the absurdity that was the show and had moved from Gisborne’s love and desperation for Marian to become about finding resolution for a damaged man and specifically about finding redemption of his life. Even writing this now, it sounds a bit melodramatic, and well, it was melodramatic, but oh, the way the media treated the show made it abundantly clear Guy’s story was THE story albeit the producers could not acknowledge that overtly. It was still done in ways too obvious to miss.
Just one example was Digital Spy doing interviews with the principals in the cast, and Richard Armitage was the last one interviewed — oh yeah, saving the best for last. Some of the questions asked are a bit hackneyed. As always Richard doesn’t give hackneyed answers. He does seem tired but is still able to reveal what it is we love so much about Guy and about him as an actor:
Revelation of the inner core. Even if he had not been redeemed in the last series, he captured something that most can relate to — the need to be loved and the hunger for redemption at times as part of fulfilling that need. This is the secret of Guy’s appeal and why two years later I can still get choked about his passing.
And if Richard Armitage can pull off this kind of examination of a character most would marginalize, what is he really capable of doing? It’s potentially mind boggling to contemplate, and sorry, my friends, but romantic comedies rarely enter my thinking about potential roles for Richard. I have nothing against them and like quite a few, but I hope someone, somewhere who has the means to supply him with damn fine writing will step up, and I doubt it’s going to be a romantic comedy.
However, on a completely shallow note and completely understanding the need to see him in a romance, phew! he is fine in that clip! Blindingly handsome, and to hear from some who have seen him in person, that is nothing by comparison. If that’s nothing, I’m not sure I could handle seeing him in the flesh.
By the way, I was absolutely sure Guy was history once I saw this interview, but then I had thought for a good while Guy was going to meet his end if for no other reason than Richard Armitage had long since outgrown the show. Please note when he touches his head. A long time ago it became abundantly clear this is an obfuscating gesture and interesting to examine in light of one of Servetus’ recent posts. I guess this comment proves I can still devolve into playing the idiot chick from the O’Reilly Factor :D, and now I feel compelled to ask a pardon:

I hope you don’t mind going under the magnifying glass so much, and frankly, that is the chief reason I hope you never read my blog. It would make me feel a little self-conscious to know you see the examination of your every move. By the way, I’m contemplating the movement of your eyelashes at some point in the future, and I can’t indulge my anal tendencies quite so much if well, you’re looking at me. So glad you don’t, but I’m sure my SO is glad I’m doing this blog since my need to examine every cussed thing is not so focused on him at present. :D

note: I debated doing this post since I still need to do my follow-up to TDHCMO, but frankly, I don’t want to be on a schedule. I’m on a schedule or at someone’s beck and call so much of the time. That’s not really a complaint despite how it sounds, but I need a place I am not so worried about meeting deadlines or others’ expectations. I guess this is it, and tomorrow, I have to continue on with Guy. Too much to talk about to hit and run with one post.
I was one of those who was not going to watch the Royal Wedding, but I’ve been in on so many public events of William’s life, how could I miss this one.

Richard Armitage really did represent the cast at the Powhiri on the opening of filming ‘The Hobbit’, and I really did feel like I was watching my kid make good. Maybe he was right about the maternal feelings, and strangely, that doesn’t feel icky anymore.

I never win anything, yipee!!!! I’m sitting in my office grinning from ear to ear. I would be happy to share a bit. I’ve always been a rabid Anglophile and past crushes from teens include Pierce Brosnon, Jeremy Irons, Clive Owen, and Tim Roth. My adoration of RA puts my former fleeting fancy for others to shame! Thank heavens for all the blogs and deep analysis of RA love or I would really have thought I lost it.
I’m a very happily married mother of two grade schoolers. I work part-time as a clinical social worker, mostly with neglected/abused children. Work days involve hearing lots of sad stories and trying to help people pick up the pieces. RA makes me happy. I saw ‘North and South’ three weeks ago, and I’ve watched or listened to something he’s been in daily since. DH has been amused by the infatuation and has watched Spooks with me after the kids are in bed. My daughter calls him “swoony” and is going through Robin Hood. I can’t define it other than I love to see his every nuance, his voice makes me melt, and his hands are beyond words!
He has also helped me appreciate my own DH’s gorgeous blue eyes and sexy hands I’ve taken for granted over the years.
Well, I’ve given you way more info than needed, but I couldn’t stop.
SocialWorkMama, I’m so glad you’ve joined us, and I certainly understand. :) I hope Sylvester brings you lots of smiles. Be sure to tell us about it when you can.
